All because of a Crispy Chicken Sandwich

Let me preface this blog post by admitting that I am a horrible blogger. I hope to do better next time. ;) With that said after you read this post I'm sure you will wish that I never started a blog in the first place. This could possibly be the most random thing I will ever write about in my adult life. So here goes...

I just had an experience that I may never forget. Not only was it kind of awesome, but it was enough to get me to update my blog. So you're probably thinking "Oh! It must be good, right?" Sure, why not.

For the past few hours I've been trying to decide what I was going to eat. Granted it is very late at night and my personal trainer would throttle me if she knew I ate this late, I was in deep distress about where I was going to get food. So I decided to watch one more episode of 30 Rock on my Netflix account and put the decision off for just 20 more minutes. Even while I was getting into the car the debate continued in my head "Del Taco or Wendy's. Del Taco or Wendy's. Del Taco or Wendy's." What a dilemma!

After deciding my strange craving for a Spicy Chicken sandwich was too overwhelming to ignore I took my little white truck and drove over to Wendy's. As I am pulling up to the strange microphone box, still deciding whether to get the combo or just the sandwich, a strange looking man walks up to my car. Now, mind you, it's 11:15 at night in Southern California so I was a little freaked out. The gentleman proceeds to ask me if I would order food for him if he gave me money, because the restaurant was closed and he didn't have a car to go through the drive-thru. At this point all of my paranoid flashers of come up in my head, "He's a crazy drive-thru killer who's going to murder you with a plastic fork!!!!" Seriously, that's what I was thinking. But, being kind of trapped as I was, and seeing now logical reason to say no, I agreed to order him his food.

As the man handed me the only dollar he seemed to have he asked for the heartiest thing on the Super Value Menu. By this point the man on the other side of the drive-thru microphone box seemed downright confused by the conversation that was going on on my end, so I quickly gave him our order and moved up to the second window. Now having preceded me on foot in the drive-thru lane, the man continued to pace back and forth while I received a very strange look from the man on the other side of the drive-thru window. Finally, after what seemed to be the longest minute and a half of my life, I was handed 2 bags of food and then presented my new friend with his hamburger. He thanked me and shuffled off into the darkness.

Now this may not seem like a big deal to many people, but as I was driving home I couldn't help but get the feeling like I was at the right place at the right time. Silly, I know, but possibly true nonetheless. Because if I hadn't been so indecisive about what I wanted to eat, and if I hadn't watched that last episode of 30 Rock, or if I had craved a Del Taco burrito more than a Wendy's Spicy Chicken sandwich I wouldn't have been at that drive-thru when that man needed my help. I'm sure he would have waited for some other late-night cravester to come along, but who's to say they would have been as helpful? Maybe it was indigestion or maybe it was the Spirit, but I can't help but be grateful for my Spicy Chicken sandwich because it allowed me to help someone. And there's nothing better than that.

... Except I am kind of wishing I had ordered a Frosty right about now.

Sometimes you feel like a nut...

So, I've been wanting to start this blog for awhile now. Or that's assuming you think a month is "awhile." Any who... For that while my mind would come across something and I would say to myself "I should blog about that." But now, as soon as I get the chance, I suddenly can't think of anything to blog about. Convenient. But I don't want to start my blog and then leave it for a week without writing. That would make me sad. And although my dear friend Stephanie suggested I post a video of my infamous "Monkey Dance", I am still at a loss for words. (Steph, I promise one day I will post it. Just for you. ;p) So what I'll do today instead is choose a picture from my computer and tell the story behind it. I guess that will work for now. Besides, pictures are some of my favorite parts of people's blogs. So here we go.

OK, let me ex
plain. This is what I call "The Happiest Mullet on Earth". Why? Well, beyond the obvious (it's breathtaking, isn't is?) I found it at Disneyland, The Happiest Place on Earth. So it was only fitting for this mullet to be there. Actually, I was technically at the entrance to Disney's California Adventure, but what does that matter.
In this side view you can see the grand spectrum of fantastic-ness that made up my wonderful discovery. This unforgettable trip to Disneyland was back in January '07. I went with my mom, my brother, and my sisters (Dad had to work). We had all received Annual Passports for Christmas and we wanted to go as a family before I went back for my last semester at BYU-Idaho. The great thing, besides the mullet, about this trip was that it was one of the last big things we did as a family before my brother, Nathan, left on his mission. Here are a few more awesome pics from that day.

This is Nathan, me, Melissa, and Jenni at the front entrance to Disneyland. Before that day, I don't think we had all been to Disneyland together. As you can see Nathan is making a funny face because the sun was in his eyes; that's what happens when you're a little less cool than your sisters.

This is my cousin Justin. He is probably one of the funniest kids I know. Justin and his sister, Kellie, were cracking us up the whole time we were there. He made this face when we were waiting in line for Star Tours. What a goober!

Now, this is probably one of my favorite pictures of all time. Why, you ask? Well, because this is so typical of my family. We harrass my mom all the time because very rarely can she keep her eyes open in a picture. And my brother is just a odd kid. So it was more than fitting that what was meant to be a sweet picture of Mother and Son turned into this un-planned display of pure silliness. Absolutely PRICELESS! And, as the song I am listening to just said, "You're beautiful just the way you are!" Ain't it the truth.

And, because this is my blog, I have to include a picture of myself. This was taken outside of the ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney. I've decided that my brother looks like a gangster and I look like a circus clown. It had been a long day.

Now, before I end for the evening I want to give all of you readers an assignment: since my brain has almost completely stopped functioning I want you to give me blogging ideas. What do you want me to write about? What do you want to hear? What stories do you want me to tell? What are your burning questions? I want this to be a very honest and candid blog, both light-hearted and serious, so no topic is taboo. If you're itching to know, then I will do my best to deliver. So start thinking! Love, peace, and chocolate cake for all!

Is it just me... ?

Well Friends, the time has come that I caught up to the band wagon. I've enjoyed keeping up with so many wonderful friends through their blogs that I thought maybe they'd like to keep up with me. :) So here I am! My goal for this blog is to not only be able to keep everyone updated with what's going on with me, but also to help me show gratitude to my Heavenly Father for all of the wonderful blessings he gives me every day. Happy Blogging!
